Travelers arriving in or departing from Damascus now have a new public transport option between the city center and Damascus International Airport.
A dedicated airport bus service began operating on October 11, 2026, connecting Al-Baramkeh Garages in central Damascus with Damascus International Airport in both directions. The service was introduced by Syria’s General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport to make airport access easier, more regular, and more affordable for passengers.
Mustafa Khairallah, Director of Media at Syria’s General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport, said the new bus route is part of efforts to improve passenger services and make travel to and from the airport easier. He also said the authority is considering additional routes from other parts of Damascus and is preparing a similar service for Aleppo International Airport.
For visitors planning to travel to Syria, the new service provides another option for reaching central Damascus without relying only on private transportation.
Airport Bus Times
According to the announced schedule, buses leave Al-Baramkeh for Damascus International Airport at:
6:00, 7:00, 8:00, 9:00, 10:00 and 11:00 AM
12:00 PM, 1:00, 2:00 and 4:00 PM
7:00 and 10:00 PM
There are also late-night services at 1:00 and 4:00 AM.
Transport is available in the opposite direction as well, allowing arriving passengers to travel from the airport back toward Damascus.
Because transport schedules can change, travelers should check the latest information before relying on a particular departure time.
More Airport Transport Routes May Follow
The aviation authority is also studying the possibility of introducing additional airport bus routes from other parts of Damascus, including Al-Abbasiyin Garages.
A similar transport service is also being prepared for Aleppo International Airport, with details expected to be announced once arrangements are completed.
What Does This Mean for Travelers Visiting Syria?
For international visitors, transportation between the airport and accommodation is one of the first practical questions when planning a trip to Syria.
The new Damascus airport bus gives travelers another way to reach the city and may be particularly useful for visitors staying near central Damascus or connecting with other local transport.
The service also comes as passenger traffic through Damascus International Airport continues to grow. In September 2026, the airport handled 2,022 flights and nearly 230,000 passengers, according to the aviation authority.
For travelers researching Damascus Airport transportation, how to get from Damascus Airport to the city, or travel to Syria, the new bus service is a useful addition to the city’s transport options.
