Is it safe to travel to Syria?

How can I obtain a visa for Syria?

Most travelers will need a visa to enter Syria—but don’t worry, the process is easier than you might think. Citizens of Lebanon, Jordan, Malaysia, and Mauritania can enter visa-free. All other nationalities, though, do need a visa, usually arranged through a local tour operator like us.

Flying directly to Syria?
If you’re flying into Damascus or Aleppo, you need prior security approval before boarding your flight. Once that approval is issued, you’ll get the actual visa upon arrival at the airport.

Coming by land through Lebanon or Jordan?
The process is much more relaxed:

You’ll get a visa on arrival directly at the border.
No embassy visits, no pre-application.
Your passport gets stamped at the Syrian border (in and out).

 Verified Superb 10 day tour of Syria
I had a brilliant 10 day journey through Syria with Syrian Guides. There is a lot to see in Syria - ancient ruined cities, castles, mosques, mountains, monasteries and deserts. The coffee was good, and Ola our tour leader looked after us very well. All the arrangements to do with transfers, hotels and transport worked as planned. This is one of the best trips I have been on. Above all I will remember the warm welcome we got from Syrian people everywhere. They show incredible resilience after all they have suffered. Three standouts - wine tasting at Jarjour, cherry kebab in Aleppo and the carpet shop on our last day in Damascus.

This trip to Syria was an exceptional experience, full of emotions and discoveries, thanks to Syrian Guides. Both of our guides were wonderful, attentive to each group member’s needs and doing their best to adapt to the different personalities within the group. A special thank you to Gabriella for her in-depth knowledge of the country’s history and the various sites we visited, as well as for her kindness and her ability to handle unexpected situations. Komai, meanwhile, brought positivity and energy to every day of our trip. He was also patient and attentive to everyone’s requests and needs. As someone who is rather independent and sometimes needs time alone, I particularly appreciated never feeling overwhelmed or suffocated during the trip. I was able to fully enjoy the experience while still having the space I needed, which made the journey all the more enjoyable. The accommodation and restaurants were equally outstanding, and the food deserves a special mention — it was simply exceptional! It was a day trip to Damascus from Amman and back. I really enjoyed the tour. Tony my guide was very knowledgeable and asked me what are my interests. I was very happy to see the Ummayad mosque 🕌 and all churches ⛪️ in the old town of Damascus that is a Unesco world heritage site. The only bad thing is that the driver back to Amman wanted much more money from me then what we were said in advance.

Wonderful experience travelling with a tour group. Syria is an amazing country to visit with so many spectacular places to visit, and hospitable friendly culture. I will be back! Highly recommended tour company. Informative helpful guides, excellent accommodation and food. The trip was an amazing culinary experience, extravagant lunches with choices from a range of dishes. I went by myself and for someone who looks middle eastern, but only has Latin blood I am happy to say I made the right choice to go with syrianguide.  Verified Syria in Transition
I was travelling with my wife in Syria for five days. Rami picked me up in Amman and took us across the border into Syria. We spend two nights in a beautiful boutique hotel in the old town. Then we drove to Homs. We saw the destroyed old town and the extend of the war. Then we spend two nights in Aleppo and we had a great time with Tarif our Guid and Hisham who was our driver. After the five days we got a transport service to Beirut which was all included in this tour. What I can say is thank you to Rami for the great organisation and thanks a lot to our Guid Tarif and our driver Hisham. I can only recommend to visit this country.

 Verified Amazing Experience and Will Be Back!
I had an incredible experience with Syrian Tours and my iconic guide Touleen. The agency was able to organize both my taxi from Beirut before and my car to the Damascus airport after my tour. I was able to see some amazing historical sites, learn the history of this wonderful city, and eat some delicious food along the way. Touleen also customized the experience based on what I was looking to do, buy, and see. We saw fantastic art by young artists, and met craftsman which became perfect gifts for back home. The tours each day were a great pace, enough to explore and digest all of the knowledge and history, with enough time to explore on my own and unwind. The hotel accommodation was wonderful and very comfortable, and overall it was a great experience. My pro tip is to bring USD cash in new clean unmarked bills, currency exchange places are strict so be sure they are flawless and new! I did 3 days in Damascus, then a day trip to Sednaya and Maaloula, and a day trip to see Bosra. But with Syrian Tours you can do a customized or group tour which I appreciated.
