Damascus Airport Bus: Fare & Timetable
Damascus International Airport has confirmed the fare and full daily schedule for its public bus service between the airport and Baramkeh in central Damascus.

Travelers using Damascus International Airport now have clear official information about the public airport bus connecting the terminal with Karajat al-Baramkeh in central Damascus.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport has confirmed that the bus costs just 500 Syrian pounds per passenger and currently operates 14 departures per day from Baramkeh. Service is also available in the opposite direction from Damascus International Airport back to the city.
Damascus to the airport: current departure times
The exact published schedule from Baramkeh Station to Damascus International Airport is:
| Period | Departure times from Baramkeh |
|---|---|
| Morning | 06:00 · 07:00 · 08:00 · 09:00 · 10:00 · 11:00 |
| Afternoon | 12:00 · 13:00 · 14:00 · 16:00 |
| Evening | 19:00 · 22:00 |
| Night / early morning | 01:00 · 04:00 |
This gives travelers ten daytime departures and four evening or overnight departures.
The official airport website confirms that the service operates in both directions. It currently describes airport buses as running roughly every 30–60 minutes through the day, but it does not publish a separate exact airport-to-Baramkeh timetable. Travelers arriving at the airport should therefore check the next departure locally rather than assuming the Baramkeh schedule applies in reverse.
How long does the Damascus Airport bus take?
The aviation authority says the journey from Baramkeh to Damascus International Airport normally takes less than one hour.
However, travelers should allow more time during rush hour because traffic in central Damascus can increase the journey time. There are also rehabilitation works currently taking place on the airport road, which may cause additional delays.
Damascus International Airport recommends arriving at least three hours before an international flight. For that reason, passengers should not choose a bus that would leave them with only a narrow margin before check-in.
If you are flying internationally, plan around the airport’s three-hour arrival recommendation and add a reasonable buffer for traffic. The bus is inexpensive, but missing a flight is not.
The current departure point is Baramkeh
The confirmed Damascus departure point is Karajat al-Baramkeh, one of the city’s central transport hubs. The service goes directly from Baramkeh to Damascus International Airport, with buses also operating from the airport back toward Damascus.
This makes the bus particularly useful for independent visitors staying in central Damascus or travelers who can easily reach Baramkeh by taxi or local transport.
Licensed airport taxis remain available from the arrivals area for travelers who prefer a direct transfer to their hotel.
More departure points are being studied
The aviation authority says it is considering expanding the airport-bus network to additional parts of Damascus. One of the locations specifically under study is Karajat al-Pullman, the intercity bus station, which would make the airport service more convenient for passengers arriving in Damascus from other Syrian governorates.
Passengers interviewed by SANA also suggested other future stops, including Jisr al-Hurriya and Jdeidet Artouz. These are requests rather than confirmed routes, so travelers should not rely on them yet.
The bus timetable itself may also change as airlines move into their winter flight schedules. The authority says it will adjust the transport service when needed to better match passenger and flight demand.
Why this matters for international travelers
Airport transport is one of the first practical questions for anyone planning to travel to Syria. Until recently, visitors arriving at Damascus International Airport largely depended on taxis, private transfers or pre-arranged tour transport.
The public bus adds a very inexpensive alternative and makes independent arrival in Damascus easier. It is especially useful for budget-conscious travelers or visitors continuing their journey from central Damascus.
Travelers joining a Syrian Guides group tour or a private Syria tour should still follow the transfer arrangements included with their booking rather than changing to the public bus without checking first.
