Travel between Oman and Syria has a new direct option. SalamAir, Oman’s low-cost airline, began direct flights between Muscat and Damascus on October 28, 2026, becoming the first Omani airline to operate the route.

The new service is scheduled to operate twice per week. For travelers planning to visit Syria from Oman, the Gulf or destinations that connect through Muscat, the route adds another practical way to reach Damascus without transiting through some of the region’s more heavily used hubs.

WHAT CHANGED?

Muscat and Damascus are now directly connected

SalamAir announced the Damascus route as part of a wider expansion of its Middle East network. The airline held a launch event in Muscat on October 22 and confirmed that direct Muscat–Damascus service would begin on October 28.

Syria’s General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport separately confirmed that regulatory and operational arrangements had been completed for the new service, including licensing and operating permits.

Two flights per week

The route is planned at two weekly services. Travelers should check SalamAir’s live schedule before booking because newly launched routes can still see timetable adjustments.

FOR TRAVELERS

Why the Muscat route matters

Muscat is a useful connecting point for travelers from Oman and parts of South and Southeast Asia. SalamAir’s network serves a range of regional destinations, which can make the new Damascus service relevant beyond passengers starting their trip in Oman.

For tourists joining a Syria tour, flying directly into Damascus can also simplify arrival day compared with adding a land transfer from Beirut or Amman.

Travelers should still confirm Syria’s visa or advance-approval requirements for their nationality before departure. A confirmed airline ticket does not replace any immigration documents that may be required.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Check the live schedule and your entry documents

  • Confirm the exact operating days and times on SalamAir’s current schedule.
  • Check baggage conditions for the fare you choose.
  • Confirm visa or advance-approval requirements before buying a non-refundable ticket.
  • Allow enough connection time in Muscat if arriving on another flight.
