Syrian Airlines Adds Berlin and Munich Flights
Syrian Airlines will begin direct Damascus–Berlin flights on November 10 and Damascus–Munich flights on November 12, expanding direct air access between Syria and Germany.

Travel between Syria and Germany is set to become easier in November as Syrian Airlines prepares to open two direct routes from Damascus to Berlin and Munich.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport announced that regular direct flights between Damascus International Airport and Berlin will begin on November 10, 2026. Two days later, on November 12, Syrian Airlines is scheduled to begin direct flights between Damascus and Munich.

Syrian Airlines is expanding again in Europe
The Berlin announcement was made on October 26, followed by the Munich announcement on October 28. The two routes are part of a wider effort to rebuild Syrian Airlines’ European network and increase the number of direct connections to Damascus.
According to the Syrian civil aviation authority, the new Germany services are intended to reduce the need for travelers to connect through other airports and to make travel between Syria and Germany quicker and easier.
Berlin is currently scheduled to operate twice weekly with Airbus A320 aircraft, according to published aviation schedules. The Munich announcement confirms the launch date but does not yet specify the final weekly frequency in the official notice.
The civil aviation authority has also said it is completing procedures for an additional German airline to serve Syria from more German airports. That plan is still under development, so travelers should treat future airports and schedules as unconfirmed until formally announced.
Why Berlin and Munich matter for travel to Syria
The new flights are useful not only for Syrians living in Germany. They also create more options for international travelers planning to visit Syria from Europe.
Berlin and Munich are both major European transport hubs with extensive rail and air connections. Travelers from neighboring countries may find it easier to reach one of these airports and fly directly to Damascus rather than building an itinerary around a connection in Istanbul, Doha, Dubai, Amman or Beirut.
For travelers planning a Syria tour, a direct flight can also simplify the first and last day of the itinerary. Instead of adding a long transit or a land transfer from Lebanon, visitors can arrive directly at Damascus International Airport and continue into the city by road.
Travelers flying into Syria should still check the visa and advance-approval requirements for their nationality before departure. Airlines may ask for the required Syrian entry-approval document before boarding. See our Syria visa guide for current details.
What travelers should check
These routes are newly announced, so flight schedules and booking availability can still change. Before purchasing a non-refundable ticket, travelers should confirm:
- the exact operating day and departure time with Syrian Airlines;
- whether the flight is operating from Damascus International Airport as scheduled;
- the baggage allowance attached to the chosen fare;
- the visa or advance-approval documents required for the passenger’s nationality;
- and any transit requirements if traveling to Berlin or Munich from another country before joining the direct Syria flight.
Travelers should also remember that direct air connections to Syria are changing quickly. Germany already has other direct links to Syria through additional airlines, and more European routes have been added during 2026.

With Berlin starting on November 10 and Munich on November 12, travelers will have two additional direct options for reaching Damascus. For visitors coming from Europe, the expansion makes planning a trip to Syria simpler and reduces dependence on transit airports.
