Reaching northern Syria has become considerably easier with the launch of Flydubai’s new daily service between Dubai and Aleppo.
The airline’s first passenger flight arrived at Aleppo International Airport on 20 July 2026, officially opening the direct route. Flydubai had announced the service earlier in the month as part of its renewed expansion in Syria.
For international visitors, the importance of the route goes beyond travelling from the UAE. Dubai is one of the world’s largest aviation hubs, offering connections from Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and the Americas.
Daily direct flights
Flydubai is operating one flight in each direction every day between Dubai International Airport and Aleppo International Airport.
The published schedule is:

Easier connections through Dubai
The route is offered through the Flydubai and Emirates codeshare partnership.
Depending on the journey booked, passengers connecting from an Emirates flight may be able to travel under one ticket, check their luggage through to Aleppo and avoid collecting and rechecking their bags in Dubai.
This could make the route especially useful for travellers arriving from countries without direct flights to Syria.
Passengers should still check the conditions of their individual booking. Baggage transfer and connection protection are not guaranteed when the two parts of a journey are purchased separately.
A practical new arrival point for Syria tours
Until recently, most international tourists began their journey in Damascus or entered Syria by road from Beirut or Amman.
The growing number of flights to Aleppo now makes it possible to begin a tour directly in northern Syria. This is particularly convenient for itineraries covering places such as:
- Aleppo.
- The Dead Cities.
- Saint Simeon.
- Apamea.
- Hama.
- Saladin Citadel.
- The Syrian coast.
A traveller could arrive in Aleppo, continue south through the country and depart from Damascus. The same journey can also be arranged in reverse.
This type of itinerary reduces unnecessary driving and allows visitors to spend more time exploring the country.
Flydubai now serves two Syrian cities
Aleppo is Flydubai’s second destination in Syria.
The airline resumed its Dubai–Damascus service in June 2025. According to Flydubai, demand later led it to increase the Damascus route to three flights per day.
With daily flights to Aleppo now added, passengers can choose the Syrian airport that best suits their itinerary rather than automatically arriving and departing through Damascus.
Booking and baggage
Tickets are available through Flydubai’s website, mobile application, travel shops and authorised travel agencies. The airline’s Aleppo booking page is active, confirming that the route is available for sale.
Flydubai offers different fare categories, so travellers should check carefully what is included before paying.
The lowest fare may not automatically include:
- Checked baggage.
- Seat selection.
- Meals.
- Flexible changes.
- Refunds after cancellation.
Travellers connecting through Dubai should also check whether the entire journey appears under one booking reference.
Before purchasing a ticket
Although the route is now operating, passengers should still take a few precautions:
- Confirm that the flight appears on Flydubai’s official booking system.
- Check whether the Dubai connection is on one ticket.
- Allow enough time between flights.
- Review the baggage allowance.
- Recheck the schedule approximately 48 hours before departure.
- Confirm the flight again on the day of travel.
- Inform the tour operator immediately if the arrival time changes.
Newly introduced routes sometimes undergo schedule or frequency adjustments after their launch.
Should tourists arrive in Aleppo or Damascus?
Aleppo is generally the more convenient choice when the tour begins in northern or western Syria.
Damascus may remain more suitable for visitors whose itinerary focuses on:
- Damascus and its surrounding countryside.
- Maaloula and Sednaya.
- Bosra.
- Palmyra.
- Southern Syria.
For longer journeys, arriving in one city and departing from the other is often the most efficient option.
Travellers should confirm their intended airport with their tour operator before buying the flight, especially if airport transfers or visa arrangements have already been organised.
