Most nationalities, except for Lebanese and Jordanian citizens, are required to obtain a visa to enter Syria. Tourists can easily secure their visa upon arrival.
How to Apply for a Visa to Syria
Getting a Syrian visa is straightforward. Upon arrival, you simply pay the visa fee to receive your entry stamp.
- If entering through Lebanon, you’ll be provided with a form to complete, which will be stamped at the border.
- For arrivals via Jordan or Damascus International Airport, the stamp is placed directly in your passport.

Entry Points to Syria
By Air:
Qatar Airways now offers direct flights to Damascus International Airport three times a week on Monday, Friday, and Saturday:
- Flight QR410: Departs Doha at 8:35 AM, arrives in Damascus at 11:30 AM.
- Flight QR411: Departs Damascus at 1:30 PM, lands in Doha at 4:05 PM.
Turkish Airlines
Flights to Damascus resume on Jan. 23, 2025, with direct flights from Istanbul three times a week:
- Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sundays
- Departures from Istanbul at 9:00 AM.
- Return flights from Damascus International Airport operate on the same days.
Royal Jordanian Airlines
Flights resume 31 January 2025, after a 13-year suspension.
- Operates 4 times weekly between Amman and Damascus.
- Connects Damascus to 45+ destinations across Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and the Gulf.
By Land:
You can enter Syria through Lebanon or Jordan:
- Lebanese Borders: Open daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Masnaa–Jdeideh crossing is the only open border; all other crossings remain closed.
- Jordanian Borders: Open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The Naseeb-Jaber borders are the only open borders between Syria and Jordan.
Border Crossing
The Lebanese-Syrian borders are accessible from 8am till 4pm while the Jordanian-Syrian borders open at 8 am and close at 6 pm.
Please be aware that the majority of nationalities can obtain a visa to Lebanon at no cost (check here for more information). However, entering Jordan requires a visa upon arrival, with a single-entry fee of approximately 60 USD.
