Until recently, the extended crossing hours were available only to Lebanese vehicles, while Syrian cars were restricted to crossing until 6:00 p.m.. The new regulation now allows equal access for both sides, marking a significant improvement in mobility and coordination between the two neighboring countries.
The extended hours are expected to ease border traffic, facilitate tourism, and simplify transport for traders, families, and commuters traveling between Damascus and Beirut.
“This decision brings great relief to many drivers and travelers who depend on these crossings daily,” said one transport official, noting that the move reflects ongoing cooperation between border authorities.
Travelers are advised to still allow sufficient time for routine customs and security checks, particularly during peak evening hours.
⏰ New Crossing Schedule:
- Open from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight
- Applies to all vehicles — Syrian and Lebanese
- Effective immediately
