Great news for travelers heading to Syria! Dan Air, a Romanian airline, has announced it will begin regular flights to Damascus from several major cities in Europe, including Bucharest, Frankfurt, Berlin, and Stockholm. Starting June 15, 2025, these flights will offer more travel options for those looking to visit Syria.
Dan Air will be the first European Union airline to operate commercial flights to Syria, marking an exciting step in improving air connectivity. The airline received the green light for this new route following official agreements between Romania and Syria, with approval from the Syrian authorities in late April 2025.
According to Matt Ian David, CEO of Dan Air, the airline’s decision to launch these flights is rooted in the belief that aviation should unite people, not isolate them. “Syria is a destination with real connectivity needs, and we have decided to respond to these needs in a responsible and professional manner,” David shared. He also highlighted the long-standing relationship between Romania and Syria.
The flights will be operated using an AIRBUS A320 aircraft, which has a capacity of 180 seats. Here’s the new flight schedule:
- Bucharest – Damascus – Bucharest: 6 flights per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- Damascus – Stockholm – Damascus: 2 flights per week (Wednesday, Sunday)
- Damascus – Berlin – Damascus: 2 flights per week (Tuesday, Saturday)
- Damascus – Frankfurt – Damascus: 2 flights per week (Monday, Friday)
Dan Air joins other international airlines, such as Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Royal Jordanian, and Kuwait Airways, which also operate flights to and from Damascus.
Tickets for the new routes are now available for booking, so be sure to plan your trip to Damascus!
